High yield credit salespeople are fast becoming the market’s hottest commodity. With spreads rallying and high yield issuance rising, banks are said to be keen to hire specialists just as the relatively small pool of talent has been reduced by the recent outflow of salespeople to agency brokers. “Agency brokers stole a march by hiring high yield salespeople during their aggressive expansion,” says Guy Blench, consultant at Elliott Ross in London. “Now banks and interdealer brokers are realising that there is a lot of high yield business to be done. In Europe that includes opportunities in places such as Norway and Germany.” -
